GENERAL STUDIO TERMS & CONDITIONS

1

Age Requirement

This studio is open to adults aged 18+ only. Sessions may include human figure drawing, artistic nudity, and open discussion around art practice and creative processes that are intended for mature audiences. For this reason, we’re unable to accommodate children or teenagers.

Participation & Assumption of Risk

2

By enrolling in and attending classes, workshops, or events, you acknowledge that participation in art activities involves some inherent risks, including (but not limited to) minor injuries, slips, or accidental damage to personal belongings.

You agree to participate at your own risk and take reasonable care of yourself, others, and the studio space.

Liability & ACC

3

All participants are covered by ACC for personal injury while attending classes in New Zealand. However, to the fullest extent permitted by law, the instructor is not liable for any loss, damage, or injury except where required by the Consumer Guarantees Act or other applicable legislation.

Personal Property

4

Students are responsible for their own personal belongings, including clothing, bags, and art materials. The studio is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal items.

Health & Medical Conditions

5

Please inform the instructor in advance of any medical conditions, injuries, allergies, or sensitivities (including chemical sensitivities) that may affect your participation.

Behaviour & Respect

6

All participants are expected to:

  • Treat others with respect

  • Maintain a supportive, inclusive environment

  • Follow instructor guidance

Harassment, disruptive behaviour, or inappropriate conduct will not be tolerated and may result in removal from the class without refund.

Cancellation & Refunds (Full course)

7

A full refund is available if you cancel at least 7 days before the course start date.

Cancellations within 7 days of the start date are non-refundable, as your place has been reserved.

If you’re unable to attend a session, you’re welcome to join a make-up class (subject to availability).

In exceptional circumstances, credit may be offered at the tutor’s discretion.

Photography & Artwork

8

Photographs or videos may occasionally be taken for promotional purposes. Please advise the instructor if you do not wish to be included.

Artwork created during class remains the intellectual property of the student.

Acceptance of Terms

9

By booking and attending a class, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.

CASUAL CLASSES TERMS & CONDITIONS

  • Advance Booking: Seats are limited to 10 per session. Booking is on a first-come, first-served basis via the website inquiry form.

  • The "24-Hour" Rule: Because we have a small capacity, please provide at least 24 hours' notice if you cannot attend. This allows me to contact the waitlist and fill your seat.

  • No-Shows: Failure to show up without notice may result in the session being forfeited (for concession card holders) or a requirement to pre-pay for future casual bookings.

Concession Cards

2

  • Flexibility: Concession cards can be used for any Rolleston Sketch Club session within 12 months of the purchase date.

  • Non-Transferable: Cards are for individual use and cannot be shared between multiple people unless agreed upon in advance (e.g., a "family" card).

  • Refunds: Concession cards are non-refundable but can be credited toward a full 8-week Wermaid Studio course if you decide to switch.

Studio Environment

3

  • BYO Materials: Students are responsible for bringing their own dry media and sketchbooks. Use of the "Supply Buffet" or reference library is included, but please treat all studio property with care.

  • Project Scope: The Sketch Club is a self-directed space. While I am available for casual guidance, this is not a formal instructional class like the 8-week course.

Health & Safety

4

  • Accessibility: As Wermaid Studio is a working garage atelier, please be aware that the space is not currently wheelchair accessible.

  • Shared Space: Please be mindful of other artists' work and personal space to ensure a focused, creative environment for everyone.
