BEGINNER’S DRAWING FOUNDATION COURSE

Do you want to learn how to draw?

This course is perfect for adult beginners, who would like to learn how to draw in a low-stress, small class environment.

You will learn about drawing materials, observation, proportions and measuring, as well as light, shadow, values and texture.

What you can expect:

  • Theory Made Visual & Accessible: Every session kicks off with a theory presentation followed by smaller exercises and a longer step-by-step project, taking the intimidation out of the fundamentals and giving you a clear roadmap before you put pencil to paper.

  • Tailored, Flexible Approaches: I don't believe in a rigid, one-size-fits-all style. You will be introduced to different methods and techniques so you can discover the creative approach that best fits your personal preferences and natural workflow.

  • Hands-On, Guided Practice: Instead of just listening to a lecture, you will immediately dive into targeted, practical exercises with direct, supportive guidance every step of the way, helping you build confidence and skills.

The Details:

  • BYO materials: A4 sketchbook/sketchpad/visual diary, graphite pencils (HB, 2B, 4B and 8B), eraser, pencil sharpener, ruler (optional)

  • Format: 90-minute sessions

  • $125 for the 6-week course (includes reference print-outs)

  • Payment via bank transfer

  • Garage Studio at 41 Lucca Crescent, Rolleston (entry is the sliding door on the left side of the garage)

SATURDAY SKETCH CLUB

Tired of drawing alone at the kitchen table or getting distracted at home?

Join the Saturday Sketch Club—a small, dedicated studio group (max 10 people) designed for community, focus, and creative flow.

What’s waiting for you in the studio:

  • Reference Library: Full access to my collection of art books and anatomy references.

  • Creative Sparks: Stuck for an idea? I have free prompt cards and fun project suggestions available on request.

  • Support: I’m always on hand for tips or a quick "over-the-shoulder" critique if you’re hitting a roadblock.

The Details:

  • BYO Sketchbook: Bring your own sketchbook/visual diary/sketch pad. Other materials are supplied (charcoal, graphite pencils, color pencils, watercolors, gouache etc.)

  • Format: 90-minute casual sessions. Book up to 8 weeks in advance to secure your seat.

Price:

  • $5 per casual class (first class FREE to try!)
